As with many indies, the acting veers between wooden and OTT and there's no suspense or tension at all, just lame dialogue and a randomly overlong running time. She was very relatable as you could see her discomfort right away. I was completely uninterested for the first 45 minutes. The Party is apparently Brexit-related, though it reminded me most of the Blairite years in the mid-1990s, before the 1997 general election swept them to power – those heady days when Labour supporters were in the main prepared to suppress their true political natures in order to get elected. Beautiful exploration of the horror of memory, A macabre mix of fine culture and savage violence. Of particular note is the performance by Sawandi Wilson and the film's musical score. What is so bad about this movie? The story was beautifully done with a gradual build up of tension and the finale. We can tell what will happen when they have to surrender their phones. Epic! The dinner takes a long time to get to a plot and doesn't quite make it to a point but is reasonably well acted and the characters of the two brothers develop well. Give it a go and watch it. Although I don't typically gravitate toward horror, I do love a good thriller. Unfortunately, the subtlety required to pull off that kind of movie was missing entirely in this one because the characters were over the top.

But with the final vows, dinner party and reunion set to air shortly. And really, the characters surprised me at the end. Well, The Dinner Party reminds me a little bit of Ready Or Not, but nowhere near as good. A real thriller and one of the best suspenseful movies i've seen so far in 2020. I was invested in her story and truly wanted her to escape. This is truly the first review I ever write on imdb, and I decided to do it because I cant believe how unfairly is ppl judging this movie. I enjoy a film that takes its time and this one keeps you guessing a little more than anticipated. Of course they follow a ritual but it's not stereotypically to Satan, and you'd never guess who it's to which is related to who the hostess is, whose ultimate identity is very surprising but also unguessable. Mixed with lots of gore, intense dialogue and plenty of twists and turns. The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) will have the best of intentions. Most importantly the winner is the storyline as it really had me on the edge of my seat. I'll be watching again. It's an interesting story and it could have been a good film had it been done right. You won't, until the last act.
I was excited by Wilson's and Hart's characters. I want some of those costumes! This film gave me anxiety! And even then, as it started to pick up in momentum, I didn’t even care about the characters. What a party! It's a little slow in the beginning so give it a chance, cuz the payoff is well worth the character-driven setup. The description sounded intriguing — cannibals hosting a dinner party? What an impressive performance by everybody involved and a special mention for the beautiful cinematography and the design elements that are in this film. I enjoy being scared, and even have a thing for gross and weird murders (I have said many times that the Final Destination films are some of my favorites). I have to say this, without providing spoilers, if you think you know what's going on... you don't.
