Amidst the melodious sounds of Vedic chants and annoying vehicles, I walked towards the Tirumala bus stand from the exit of the world famous Srivari temple of Tirumala. Once the Kauravas were vanquished, Pandavas settled at Hastinapur palace, of course, us widows kept our quarters. He wouldn’t have allowed such blasphemy to perpetrate in the house of Kurus, where ancient canons were being flouted shamelessly now. After another day of humiliation at Bhīma’s hands, Duryodhana felt he could take no more. Smiling a little, Droṇa said to the Nishada, “O hero, if you really wish to be my disciple then you must give me some dakṣiṇa. Gradually he lapsed into a deep sleep. The first part of the portrayal looked all beautiful and perfect with Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narasimha and Vamana from left to right as depicted in the below picture. When Yudhisthira performs the Rajasuya sacrifice that makes him emperor of the World, Duryodhana is unable to contain his anger, which is intensified when Yudhisthira's queen Draupadi makes fun of him when he slips into a pool of water in the court.
Mahabharata is all about the rivalry between Kauravas and Pandavas and how it led to the most dreaded battle called the Kurukshetra War. When the Pāṇḍavas arrived, however, all that changed. One day, a prince of the Nishada tribe of forest dwellers asked Droṇa to teach him. In the war, Duryodhana repeatedly eggs on the invincible Bhishma and Drona to forward his cause, even though his main hope is Karna. When the other princes had gone back to the mansion, Duryodhana saw his opportunity.
A great drama leading to Draupadi swayamvara started taking shape, followed by a dirty game of politics. The loss of his thumb would impair his skill at bowmanship. He gave all the princes narrow-mouthed water pots and asked them to fill them at the river, but to his own son he gave a wide-mouthed pot so he could return first and receive extra teaching. Krishna was sure that this wasn’t the puja which Bhanumati performed every day. They wrestled and rolled about on the ground, tossing each other into the clear blue water of the river. After the choices were made, Duryodhana went to meet Balarama. His name was Ekalavya. Although Duryodhana bemoans that he was slain by unfair means, given that it was illegal to attack below the waist according to the rules of mace-fighting, Krishna points out to the dying prince that his humiliation of Draupadi, murder plots and cheating of the Pandavas and the killing of Abhimanyu did not comply with dharma or the norms of battle either. He could also hear the guttural voice of Duryodhana, whispering to someone who wasn’t Bhanumati.
Krishna’s sister and wife of Duryodhana: Bhanumati, Musings on Revenge: Learning from Agneepath and Sarfarosh, A Guiding Soul: Remembering Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. His words can never be false. Often have I told Krishna that we have equal ties with the Kauravas and the Pandavas.
