My husband and I just started watching the BBC Series provided by Netflix. With a growing family I never got to read this 3rd book. While the moral antidotes are refreshing, this would be a caution for children. I am so satisfied now having read the 3 books.

I would recommend them for anyone who loves animals and animal stories.
Of the 4 books that I have read in the All Creatures series, this one was by far the weakest. If you miss Maeve Binchy you'll love this. Most of the stories - like the birth of his daughter - took place just after the end of WW2. This is the Kindle edition, which I have not read yet, so I can't vouch for the quality of the reproduction. They are full of humor, with occasional pathos. Recommended! I loved animals and fell in love with Mr Herriot's book. Touching our hearts with laughter and wisdom...lifting our spirits with the compassion and goodness, James Herriot never fails to delight. He has such a powerful way of taking joy in such a wide spread of experiences and people, and his sharing of this leaves one with no doubt that he is a truly masterful storyteller, with the added shift that in this book he's now a father.
